Teaching!

Just a little glimpse of artwork produced by some fourth graders I did over Spring Break. Modern Starry Nights in the style of Van Gogh. We only had 2 hours to do a month long project but I am proud of what we created and learned. It was a great day and reminded me why I am doing this!

Textures! Had to come up with a bunch of approaches!

I love the movement! Inspired by the Stanford University hills!
Cats against the moon! The stars look like fish swimming!

Drama of a sky fading into darkness!

Urban scape. Really groovy skyline!

Alcatraz cells and the island...very painterly.

First look: Wedding invitation suite

Theme is rustic romantic with a vintage feel. Light coral, sunflowers,  Jane Austen, Secret Garden, outside at night.
Mock up of invite, rsvp card (to be mailed back in natural kraft envelope lined with vintage post tape), small registry card, save the dates have been sent out. Entire package will be wrapped in lace and sent in natural kraft string-tie envelopes.

Redesigned blog

I am currently in the midst of restructuring my blog, website and indeed, artistic identity. While my main focus is on my development as a teacher and graduate student, there are a variety of creative projects I am anxious to get started with.

In the mean time, here is my very last minute entry for fellow Pont Aven alumni Rainbow Ross's Postcard Project. Further information about the project and works by other participants can be found here. A divinely detailed and profound printmaker, blogger and creative genius, Rainbow's delightful wit is nearly as sharp as her daily lino cuts. Please do take a gander at her blog and etsy shop to see more!

One year ago...

Two years ago, today, I graduate from Ringling College of Art & Design. How crazy!

Looking back to where I was last year, things have changed dramatically as well. As I am in the reminiscing mode, here are the images from last year's Postcard Project that I collaborated with Karen Causi on.

My pieces are all on the right column, except for the last card on the bottom.
All of the images are included after the jump.

wedding invitation - save the dates

First idea for a save the date card post card for a wedding suite. The picture would be from the couple's engagement photos, perhaps in black and white/sepia with coral accents. The client is looking for a handmade, vintage feel to complement the indoor/outdoor garden summer wedding theme.
